Newark, NJ — The SEIU New Jersey State Council endorses NJ Senator Nellie Pou for the U. S. House of Representatives in the 9th Congressional District, to fill the vacancy left by the honorable Representative Bill Pascrell.
“Senator Nellie Pou has a distinguished record of public service for over 27 years. She is a respected elected official and a committed advocate for working families. Her strong track-record of legislation on behalf of economic fairness, human and immigrant rights, access to higher education and the protection of the most vulnerable members of society is recognized in New Jersey and nationally. The Council welcomes her candidacy and supports her in this campaign, which has Ms. Pou poised to be the first Latina representative in Congress for New Jersey, a welcome historic moment,” said Megan Chambers, SEIU NJ State Council President and Co-Manager of the Laundry, Distribution and Food Service Joint Board, Workers United SEIU.
The SEIU NJ State Council is composed of unions representing service employees across the state, including health care, warehouse, laundry, and school cafeteria workers.
