The SEIU NJ State Council includes working people in the following areas:
Nursing Home Workers
Nursing Home Workers - 1199SEIU New Jersey Region, with over 7,000 workers, represents the largest percentage of long-term care workers in the State. Our nursing home members include certified nurse’s assistants, LPNs, Recreational Aides, Maintenance, Dietary Workers, and Housekeepers.
Municipal Service Workers
New Jerseyans depend on public service employees for their safety, health, education, childcare, and hundreds of other vital services. We’re proud to include SEIU Workers United Locals 617 and 3, whose members provide municipal services in Newark.
Motor Vehicle Inspections Workers
For more than fifty years, SEIU Local 32BJMVI Div. members have been on the front lines of the fight for clean air and safe roads. Our members work at auto inspection centers, motor vehicle road test sites, salvage inspection centers, school bus garages, and on highways and streets throughout the State to enforce motor vehicle laws and regulations. The public services Local 32BJMVI Div. Members contribute greatly to the effort by the State of New Jersey to protect its citizens from the effects of unhealthy auto emissions and the dangers of unsafe vehicles, school buses, and heavy-duty diesel trucks and to have properly licensed drivers on our congested roadways.
Resident Physicians
The Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR) is the largest house staff union in the United States. As a local union of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), we represent over 25,000 resident physicians and fellows. We aim to improve residency training and education, advance patient care, and expand community healthcare access.
Laundry, Food Service, and Distribution Industries
Workers United members in New Jersey include workers in industrial laundries and warehouse distribution centers across the state, as well as municipal service and public school employees in and around Newark. Workers United also supports the Starbucks Workers United campaign in New Jersey and across the United States.
